Max Verstappen wasn't at the limit during the Dutch Grand Prix and still had 'one or two tenths' left, according to Team Principal Christian Horner.

The Red Bull title-chaser took glory in his home Grand Prix, the first to be held in the Netherlands since 1985, leapfrogging Lewis Hamilton in the standings.

Verstappen now has a three-point over Hamilton in the Driver's Championship, leaving things delicately poised ahead of Monza on Sunday.

Mercedes simply couldn't keep up with Red Bull at Zandvoort, with Hamilton giving it his all but unable to put the pressure on the 23-year-old.

The multiple world-championship winning team will be confident ahead of the Italian Grand Prix though, as Monza has historically been a stronghold for Mercedes in recent years.

However, Horner has warned his opponents that Verstappen wasn't pushing the car to it's limits and there was still more in the tank for Red Bull.

"I think in Hungary we didn't set the car up in the best way. We left with the feeling that we didn't get as much out of the car as was actually in it," he told Motorsport-Total.com.

"In both the long and short runs we were competitive [in Holland]. But it's still very, very close with Mercedes, especially against Lewis.
